Join us for our Community Teleconference Series finale on July 16th, as we look at how water resiliency is being transformed by digital connectivity and how this transformation is being accelerated by the COVID-19 crisis. The presenters will also provide a preview of the upcoming Solutions for Water Resiliency virtual conference on August 20-21, where water sector specialists and key stakeholders will address a wide range of water-related innovations, issues and opportunities.
This Thursday’s teleconference, #12 in the series, will be the final installment of the Sustain SoCal Community Teleconference Series. Launched earlier this year in response to the COVID-19 crisis, it has provided an informal update and community forum addressing the pandemic’s impact on sustainability initiatives. However, we are not done talking…Look for the Sustain SoCal Podcast to be launched this Fall.
For the 2nd half of 2020, Sustain SoCal will be focused on conducting virtual versions of its highly regarded annual Signature events, including Solutions for Water Resiliency, Driving Mobility 7, ESG Investing Trends and Cleantech Private Capital Day.

About the Sustain SoCal Community Teleconference Series:
These informal interactive discussions are led by Sustain SoCal members and address strategies and solutions within our recovery and beyond as they relate to energy, supply chain management, transportation, water, human capital management, agriculture, smart cities, cybersecurity, waste stream management, Community Choice Aggregation (CCA), cleantech economic development, ESG and impact investing and more.
About the Presenters:
Joone Kim Lopez, General Manager, Moulton Niguel Water District
Joone Lopez is the General Manager of the Moulton Niguel Water District, which provides water, wastewater and recycled water services to six cities in South Orange County. Before joining Moulton Niguel, she served as the General Manager of Calaveras County Water District located in Northern California. Joone’s prior experience includes working for Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company as its Assistant General Manager and serving as the Deputy General Manager of Central Basin Municipal Water District. Joone is a Board Member for California WateReuse Association, California Water Data Consortium, Southern California Water Coalition, South Orange County Wastewater Authority, and WaterNow Alliance. Additionally, she serves on the Water Environment Federation’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Force, UC Irvine Water Leadership Board, The Smart Water Networks Forum Utility Advisory Group, and the California State University, Fullerton Center for Real Estate Advisory Board. She’s also a founding member of the California Data Collaborative, a non-profit representing 21 million Californians, focused on leveraging data and technology to enhance water management policies statewide.In her personal time, Joone serves as a Board Member for Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Orange County & Inland Empire Chapter, Tilly’s Life Center, and United Way Orange County Leadership Council to End Homelessness. Preceding her career in the water industry, Joone was a Police Officer for the City of Pasadena, where she received the Silver Medal of Courage for valor under fire. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University of Northridge and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from University of California San Diego.
Clay Krause, Product & Business Development, Flume, Inc.
Clay is a product and business development executive at Flume, Inc., where he leads all revenue-related aspects of the business, including sales, marketing and product strategy. Before Flume, Clay was an early employee at Rachio, and founded and managed their utilities business. Clay has a background in finance, and previously as a product manager developing tools for the banking industry.
Katie Evans, Director of Communications and Conservation, Coachella Valley Water District
Katie leads a team of 25 people who work on Outreach and Education and Water Management for the District. She joined CVWD in August 2015 as the Conservation Manager. Prior to her employment with CVWD Katie was the Public Information Officer for Desert Water Agency. Katie was a Community News Reporter for the Desert Sun newspaper covering local news for the City of Palm Springs on matters concerning city affairs, city council activity and local elections before she began working in the water industry. Katie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Arizona State University with minors in Business and Political Science. She completed her Master’s Degree in Public Policy Administration at Northwestern University. She has achieved Water Certifications in both Distribution and Treatment from the California Department of Public Health and is a Certified Water Use Practitioner. Katie is a member of the American Water Works Association and Association of California Water Agencies. Katie is a long-time resident of the Palm Springs area and her love of the city and surrounding areas has been the driving force in her passion for sharing information to the public. Katie and her family live in Bermuda Dunes and enjoy participating in sports and other outdoor activities. She is the founder and president of the Coachella Valley Youth Hockey Foundation.
