In California water, uncertainty comes with the territory. The Metropolitan Water District (MWD) must embrace the many uncertainties swirling about us: a fickle climate and economy, brittle infrastructure, new chemical contaminants, and persistent drying along the Colorado River to name just a few. What uncertainties rise to the top of your list? MWD would like to hear your thoughts and concerns as it embarks upon its planning process to provide a reliable water future for Southern California.
MWD is in the process of developing a new Integrated Water Resources Plan (IRP) in coordination with its member agencies and retail water providers. The IRP process explores the various “drivers of change” that will affect the future, incorporating different scenarios that could create potential water supply reliability challenges through 2045. This includes two upcoming MWD Integrated Resources Plan Stakeholder virtual events, a May 20 Workshop and a May 22 Workshop.
