About the Speakers:

Matthew Berbée
Senior Director, Facilities Operations and Engineering
NBCUniversal Media (Universal City CA)

As Senior Director, Facilities Operations & Engineering, Matt oversees operations & maintenance of the NBC Universal West Coast sites including: the Universal Studios Lower Lot, 10 Universal City Plaza and the Dream Works Campus. Matt is responsible for strategic initiatives in the areas of Integrated Workplace Management System implementation and Smart Building architecture design. Prior to joining NBCU, Matt served as the Director of Maintenance & Energy Services at the California Institute of Technology, where he managed one of the nation’s premier energy efficiency programs integrating smart building technologies with maintenance and operations. Matt began his career at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a facilities engineer, quickly becoming the NASA JPL Energy Manager responsible for Energy Savings Performance Contracts and Building Automation Controls. Matt holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University Pomona.

Jim Meacham
Principal
Altura Associates (Irvine CA)

Jim is a founding principal of Altura, where he is responsible for managing a team which provides services for some of the world’s most energy efficient and iconic real estate projects.  As a California registered mechanical engineer, Jim has directly managed scores of projects from concept through construction and operations, including commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy auditing, on-site energy generation, renewable energy, energy management training, and modeling assignments. Leveraging an extensive background in controls systems, on-site energy production, field project implementation, and experience as an educator, he is highly skilled at working with project teams to implement leading edge, data-driven solutions that deliver meaningful and lasting results.
